Mechatronics is a modern engineering discipline that involves the integration of mechanical, electronics, control, and software engineering. Mechatronics engineers are trained in the design and control of a wide range of multidisciplinary systems, which include commonly-used devices, like digital cameras and photocopiers, as well as advanced electro-mechanical devices, such as high precision robotic systems and automated production machinery.
At the Mechatronics Engineering Department of Bahçeşehir University, the Mechatronics Engineering Undergraduate Program is currently being offered. Related preparatory work for the establishment of mechatronics programs at the postgraduate and doctorate level has been initiated, but not yet implemented.
The Department of Mechatronics Engineering involves research activities on mechanical product design, control and programming, with an emphasis on:
- Robotics
- Bio-mechatronics
- Smart Materials
- Automotive Engineering
Research in the robotics field concentrates particularly on micro/nano robotic systems and adaptive robots. Studies in the automotive field focus on the modeling and control of alternative fuel vehicles, and the design of steering wheel systems.
