The program of Department of American Culture and Literature can be summarized as follows;

• The main purpose the 4 years education is to provide students both with a comprehensive training in the field of American Culture and Literature, and to increase their ability of using oral and written English.
• Within the scope of this main purpose, the students of the department will receive elective and compulsory courses such as, American Culture, Literature, History and Literary Criticism, women’s studies, literature and movies, multiculturalism e.t.c. and have an interdisciplinary formation. The aim of courses such as written and oral English, translation and research techniques which are included in the 4 years program, are to improve the students level of English usage.
• The students of American Culture and Literature are also able to get Minor or Double-Major programs. Today there are students who are currently receiving Cinema-Television, Journalism, Public Relations and Advertising and Sociology Double-Major programs. Besides the students of other departments can also receive Minor or Double Major programs in the Department of American Culture and Literature.
• The students can also get a master’s degree in the U.S.A. universities with which Bahçeşehir University entered into a protocol.

The main purpose of our lecturers who are experts in their fields is to help raising individuals who interiorized critical and analytic thinking methods, read between the lines when examining the world, ask questions, and able to express themselves in an effective way. For achieving this purpose strong emphasis is placed both on building solid basis in the fields of expertise of the students and on individual development of the students via the curriculums.

The bachelors of American Culture and Literature have opportunities of working in education, media and tourism sectors. They can also work as teacher or academicians in educational institutions by getting a pedagogic formation.
