Burak Küntay American Studies Center that is founded within Bahcesehir University aims to study and research the historical dimension, the structure and the phases of Turkish-American relations, and make future projections based on its studies.

In order to understand and to make future projections, the evaluation of the phases of Turkish-American relations is necessary because the relations that started officially in 1830 achieved a new dimension with the implementation of Truman Doctrine in 1947 within the balance structure of Cold War, which later on found itself in search of a new definition with the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, and finally has entered into a turbulent era with the start of Iraq War in 2003.  

In this context, Bahcesehir University American Studies Center aims to emphasize the importance of Turkish-American relations in future years by evaluating the historical dimension of the relations.

American Studies Center has provided oppotunities for researchers and to academicians who study Turkish-American relations, to share their knowledge through international certificate programs, such as School of Politics in the United States and Global Leadership Forum.

American Studies Center, by inviting a great number of lecturers from the United States and by sending Turkish academicians and intellectuals to give lectures in different Think Tanks and foundations in the United States, aims to build a platform on which two countries will have a chance to get to know each other in a better way.

In this way, American studies center contrary to pre-1990s by pioneering the establishment of ties in the areas of politics, culture, social and economics between two countries through its programs and studies envisages that Turkish-American relations should be evaluated in civil base and academic level.
